The endless research and various articles and talk shows on the non- binary movement I had to go through in order to prepare for this meeting – I was ready for any diva moment thrown at me just to get this individual on the cover of my magazine. She was a cultivation of the major discourse taking place all over the western world and she was about to give me an exclusive interview. I had to be ready. But… My expectation was far different from what the reality turned out to be. While negotiating with our March star, we were led to believe that this was ‘a bad bitch’ diva, but upon meeting her, she turned out to be anything but. A sensitive and incredibly kind natured individual walked through the doors of Lifestylepop and took my entire team by surprise.
Foxy was by far my most anticipated guest and interview. Perhaps for the wrong reasons at the time, as my main goal was to get her perspective on the ongoing debate taking place in the world that is quite literally dividing western society. My plan was to ruthlessly attack my subject in order to reach the set conclusion I had already decided on, but the person in front of me was so real and so sensitive, moreover it turned out that she was not even a representative of the movement that I was seeking an understanding and explanation to. The most famous drag queen of Cyprus was not going to be able to give me the answers I was out for – her identification as gender fluid does not mean she is aware of the implications this identification causes for women’s rights and parental rights. This is when I realized I need to separate the individual from the topic. Foxy is an incredibly gentle soul who more than anything wishes for understanding and a place she can call her own in this world. She has found this in her virtual reality where her female identity thrives and demands respect, which is where she coined the term ‘bad bitch’ it is this term that gives her the strength and ability to fight against the “well-wishing trolls”. At 5000+ followers and a successful Tik Tok page the last thing Foxy needs to worry about are those behind her. I very much enjoyed having her in my studio and I believe we will meet again both professionally and socially.
As an LGBT supporter I will shed light on the issues of the divide in modern society, which is mainly due to wide misunderstandings and of course in some cases as with everything else uneducated public on both sides of the debate. So, stay tuned for more on non-binary and gender fluidity.
